What is SlasPay?
SlasPay is a secure cross-border payment and digital wallet platform built on Stellar blockchain infrastructure. It enables individuals and businesses to send money internationally, hold multi-currency wallets (NGN, CAD, USD), exchange currencies at competitive rates, and make local payments via Paystack (Nigeria) and Interac (Canada).
How is SlasPay different from traditional bank transfers?
Traditional bank transfers for Nigeria–Canada corridors typically take 3–5 business days and charge 3–7% in fees. SlasPay settles in seconds using the Stellar network at less than $0.01 per transaction, with transparent FX rates shown upfront before you confirm.
Which countries does SlasPay support?
SlasPay currently supports Nigeria and Canada as primary markets, with USD as an international bridge currency. We are expanding to additional African and North American markets. Check our Pricing page for the latest supported corridors.
Is SlasPay regulated?
Yes. SlasPay operates under CBN-compliant payment infrastructure in Nigeria and a FINTRAC-compliant AML programme in Canada. We are subject to the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and Canadian PIPEDA for data protection. Our payment layer is PCI-DSS compliant.
What is Stellar and why does SlasPay use it?
Stellar is an open, decentralised blockchain network designed specifically for fast, low-cost cross-border payments. It settles transactions in 3–5 seconds at under $0.01 per transaction, is ISO 20022-aligned, and is used by institutions including MoneyGram and IBM World Wire. SlasPay uses Stellar for its settlement layer while maintaining full regulatory compliance through our on/off-ramp infrastructure.
Is SlasPay connected to SlasProp?
Yes. SlasPay is the payment and escrow engine for SlasProp, the SlasTech property registry platform. Property transactions on SlasProp use SlasPay for secure escrow, multi-currency payments, and settlement. Your SlasTech account gives you access to both platforms.
Wallets
What currencies can I hold in my SlasPay wallet?
SlasPay supports NGN (Nigerian Naira), CAD (Canadian Dollar), and USD (US Dollar) wallets. Each wallet is separate with its own balance and transaction history. You can exchange between wallets at real-time rates.
How do I fund my NGN wallet?
Fund your NGN wallet via bank transfer, debit card, or USSD using our Paystack integration. Once your transfer is confirmed by your bank (usually within minutes), your SlasPay balance is updated immediately.
How do I fund my CAD wallet?
Fund your CAD wallet via Interac e-Transfer from any Canadian bank account. Send your e-Transfer to the SlasPay email address displayed on your deposit page. Funds are credited within 1–30 minutes depending on your bank's Interac processing time.
Are my wallet funds insured?
SlasPay wallet funds are held in segregated accounts separate from SlasTech operational funds. We do not use customer funds for lending or investment. Your funds are not insured by CDIC or NDIC, which is standard for digital wallet providers. For large holdings, we recommend moving funds to insured bank accounts after transactions are complete.
What are my wallet transaction limits?
Default limits: NGN wallet daily deposit ₦5,000,000; daily send ₦2,000,000. CAD wallet daily deposit CA$10,000; daily send CA$5,000. Limits increase after enhanced KYC verification. Business accounts have higher limits. View your current limits in Dashboard then Settings then Limits.
Can I withdraw funds back to my bank account?
Yes. Withdraw NGN to any Nigerian bank account (processed via Paystack, typically within 30 minutes to 2 hours). Withdraw CAD via Interac e-Transfer to any Canadian bank account (typically within 30 minutes). Withdrawal fees apply — see our Pricing page.
Sending Money
How do I send money to someone?
From your Dashboard, select Send Money, enter the recipient's email address or SlasPay ID, select the currency and amount, review the fee breakdown and exchange rate, then confirm. The recipient is notified instantly and funds are available in their wallet immediately.
How long does an international transfer take?
SlasPay-to-SlasPay transfers are instant. For transfers to external bank accounts: NGN withdrawals take 30 minutes to 2 hours via Paystack. CAD Interac e-Transfers take 30 minutes to 2 hours. International wire transfers take 1–2 business days. All times are subject to banking partner processing.
What are the fees for sending money?
SlasPay-to-SlasPay transfers: Free. Local NGN bank withdrawal: 0.5% (min ₦50, max ₦1,000). CAD Interac withdrawal: CA$1.50 flat fee. International wire: 1.5%. Currency exchange: built into the FX rate displayed at the time of conversion. All fees are shown before you confirm — no surprises.
Can I cancel a transfer after sending?
SlasPay-to-SlasPay transfers are instant and cannot be reversed once completed. For pending external withdrawals, contact support immediately at support@slaspay.com — we may be able to recall the transfer if it has not yet settled with the banking partner.
What happens if I send to the wrong person?
Always double-check recipient details before confirming. SlasPay-to-SlasPay transfers cannot be reversed. If you sent to an unintended recipient, contact them directly to request a return. For bank withdrawals to a wrong account, contact us immediately at support@slaspay.com. We will work with you and our banking partners on a best-effort recall.
FX & Exchange
How does currency exchange work on SlasPay?
Navigate to Dashboard then Exchange, select the source and destination currencies, enter the amount, and review the exact rate and converted amount before confirming. Rates are sourced from real-time market feeds. The rate displayed is locked for 30 seconds while you confirm.
How are exchange rates determined?
SlasPay uses live mid-market rates as the base, plus a transparent spread disclosed before every transaction. We do not use the inflated rates common in traditional bank FX — what you see is what you get.
Is there a limit on how much I can exchange?
Exchange limits align with your wallet transaction limits and KYC tier. Standard users: equivalent of CA$10,000 per day. Enhanced KYC users: higher limits available. Business accounts: custom limits on request.
What is SFXIM?
SFXIM (SlasPay FX Infrastructure Module) is the enterprise FX layer for Bureau de Change operators, non-bank financial institutions, and licensed banks. It provides wholesale FX trading infrastructure with CBN and FINTRAC compliance. SFXIM is separate from the consumer SlasPay platform and accessed via fx.slaspay.com.
Security & KYC
How secure is SlasPay?
We implement AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, bcrypt password hashing, httpOnly cookie-based authentication with refresh token rotation, real-time fraud monitoring, and comprehensive audit logging. Our infrastructure runs on AWS Canada (ca-central-1) with SOC 2-aligned controls.
What is KYC and why is it required?
KYC (Know Your Customer) is a regulatory requirement under CBN, FINTRAC, and AML laws. It confirms your identity, prevents fraud and money laundering, and enables higher transaction limits. Standard KYC requires a valid government-issued ID and a selfie. Enhanced KYC requires proof of address and source of funds.
What documents are accepted for KYC?
Nigeria: National ID (NIN), International Passport, Driver's Licence, and BVN for bank linking. Canada: Passport, Driver's Licence, Provincial ID card, and Permanent Resident card. Proof of address: utility bill or bank statement dated within 3 months. Business accounts require CAC documents (Nigeria) or Certificate of Incorporation (Canada).
How long does KYC verification take?
Standard KYC is completed within 24–48 hours. During high-volume periods it may take up to 72 hours. You will receive an email notification as soon as your verification is complete. You can send and receive limited amounts during the verification period.
What should I do if I notice suspicious activity on my account?
Immediately change your password, log out of all devices via Dashboard then Security then Active Sessions, and contact us at security@slaspay.com or +234 901 234 5678. We can temporarily freeze your account while the issue is investigated. Never share your password or one-time codes with anyone, including SlasPay staff.
Accounts
How do I create a SlasPay account?
Click Get Started, enter your email address, name, country, and create a password. Verify your email, then complete KYC to unlock full transaction capabilities. The sign-up process takes less than 5 minutes.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
Click Forgot Password on the login page, enter your email, and we will send a reset link valid for 1 hour. If you do not receive it within 5 minutes, check your spam folder or contact support.
Can I use SlasPay for my business?
Yes. Business accounts offer higher transaction limits, batch payment capabilities, API access for integration, and dedicated account support. Apply for a business account via Dashboard then Settings then Account Type. Business accounts require additional verification including CAC/incorporation documents.
How do I close my account?
You can request account closure via Settings then Privacy then Close Account, or by emailing support@slaspay.com. Withdraw all funds before closing — balances cannot be recovered after closure is processed. We are required to retain certain transaction records for 7 years under financial regulations.
Can I have both a SlasPay and SlasProp account?
Yes. SlasPay and SlasProp are both SlasTech products and share the same authentication infrastructure. Your login credentials work on both platforms. KYC completed on one platform is recognised across the SlasTech ecosystem.
